This set of Microsoft Word macros adds a new tab with the following commands:
- Copy Page Layout Settings: Deleting a section break can cause havoc, if the sections either side of them have different page layout settings (e.g. different columns, header or footer sizes, etc.). If you want the section above the section break to keep its settings, you need to section below it to have the same page layout settings. Place the cursor in the latter section and press this button to copy the previous section's page layout settings, then delete the section break between them. Works best when the section break is Next Page or Continuous (it has not been tested for Even or Odd Page section breaks). Do not use with other break types (e.g. Page or Column).
- Link to Previous: Switch the Link to Previous Setting on or off throughout the whole document or a range of sections.
The macros are contained within a macro-enabled Microsoft Word template and are licensed for use on a single Windows device. For use on multiple devices or to combine up to four sets of macros, please contact Natalie Lawrence (design@natalielawrence.co.uk).
The link will download a Zip file, which contains an executable file. This will install the macro-enabled MS Word template in your STARTUP folder.
Once installed, a tab will appear in Microsoft Word called "DTP Tools", which will contain the buttons that run the macros.

Microsoft Word Macros: Sections (Windows)
Macros are commands that are written using Microsoft’s VBA programming language. The code is contained within a Microsoft Word macro-enabled template. They are *not* third-party software.
Due to the Microsoft Word template containing macros, please ensure you have administrator privileges or permission to activate them on your PC.
If you intend to use macros on a company device, please speak with your IT department before purchase.
Please note that Microsoft does not allow the use of macros in the mobile app or browser version of Microsoft Word. They will only work in the desktop app, therefore please only use macros with files that have been opened in the desktop app.
These macros are compatible with Microsoft Word for Microsoft 365 (Windows) and have been tested on 64-bit. Do not install on a Mac.
It is not advisable to use these macros with Word files that are stored on Microsoft Teams.
All prices shown in each listing are exclusive of VAT.
All macros are protected and hidden (not via password) to prevent unauthorised changes. Should you require customised macros, please contact Natalie Lawrence Design to discuss customisations.
The macros are licenced for one Windows device per user. The file must not be transferred to other users. For multiple Windows desktop licenses – either per user or for multiple users, please contact Natalie Lawrence Design.
Please ensure Microsoft Word is closed, prior to installing the macros. After installation, it is advisable to test all of them on non-urgent files first. If any error messages appear, take screenshots (and ideally screen recordings), compress them in a Zip file and send them via file transfer to design@natalielawrence.co.uk.
MICROSOFT UPDATES
After installation, a macro may stop performing as expected either because (a) Microsoft Word needs an update or (b) a Microsoft Word update has affected the macro. Please report any error messages or performance issues to your IT department, in the first instance. If they find the issue is related to an update, please report any error messages to Natalie Lawrence Design, as this may mean Microsoft has changed the code and this change needs to be reflected in the macros.
There is no additional cost for this and an updated file will be sent to the licenced email address.
UPDATES
Natalie Lawrence Design will, at times, perform reviews and updates to the VBA code. If an update is necessary, an update will be sent to the purchaser of the macros, free of charge. There is a no-refund policy for these macros. Please ensure you have the necessary permissions before installing these macros.
